It's Friday!

This week actually went by pretty fast. I got a lot of things done. My house is clean, my laundry is done and I'm all packed and ready to go see my little girl and husband! Just so you know, I didn't cry anymore after Tuesday. I think I was so busy trying to get things done that I didn't really think about it. I will admit that I did enjoy a little time to myself. I still missed them though. Now it's Friday and I am heading up to Trenton, Nebraska to the lake house. My college roommates and their families are meeting us up there tomorrow. I am so excited about seeing them all. It's been a year since I have seen Lana and Mandy. I'm sure I'll have lots of pictures when I get back. We may make this an annual get together on Labor Day weekend. We used to meet at the lake a lot more after our first year of college when some of us transferred and went different ways. We have so many memories there! I'm looking forward to the memories that will be made this weekend as well.

Working on the Chevy

One of the reasons Scott went to Goodland earlier this week was to work on the 75 Chevy. He is wanting to fix it up to drive as his work truck. He has been buying parts on Ebay. He bought tires and rims off Ebay and took them to Goodland this week. He got them put on and had to get a new battery, oil and several other things and hopes to have it running tomorrow.

Sad Tuesday

On Scott's last Tuesday off I posted about how I looked forward to those Tuesdays and enjoyed having him home for a week. Well, this week is a little different. This morning when Scott got off he woke me up around 8:00 and we got up and got ready to head to Hays. I took him and Cheyenne to meet his grandpa. Scott and Cheyenne are going to Goodland for a couple days and then headed to the lake in Nebraska for the weekend. When I get off work on Friday I will head to the lake too. Until then I am home by myself. It was hard leaving them this morning. It doesn't help that I'm pregnant and my hormones get a little carried away and I cry very easily. The tears flowed pretty heavily this morning. Actually my eyes are getting a little watery while typing this. Hopefully I will be able to get lots done while home this week. My plan is to have the house completely cleaned and laundry all done. I'll have to keep myself busy. We'll see how I do!

Meeting A Cousin

Sunday Cheyenne and I went with my mom and grandparents to visit my grandma's sister and her family. This was the first meeting for Cheyenne and I and Lori and Cailey. The girls are only 2 months apart. They had fun playing with each other. They were also entertainment for the rest of us all afternoon!

It was nice to see everyone and finally get to meet Lori and Cailey. We are definately going to have to go visit more often and get the girls together.

Morning of Garage Sales

Yesterday Adria and I got up bright and early and headed to Hutch to hit some garage sales. We had looked some up in the Hutch paper online Friday night. We got to Hutch around 8 and started our bargain shopping. We both found some good deals. We both found clothes and toys for our kids. Adria found a couple nice purses too. Cheyenne got 2 leather jackets, one that will fit her now and the other next year or so, a pair of black boots, pajamas, a couple baby dolls, a Minnie Mouse doll (we already have Mickey and Goofy), several other outfits and a small bike. She fits on the bike now. She just needs to learn how to pedal. I found some maternity clothes too. I got a couple pairs of corduroy pants and some tops. They were only $1 for the pants and .50 for the shirts. The lady tried to sell me the whole table of maternity clothes for $15 but some of the clothes were mediums and smalls and I am wearing mostly larges so I opted out of that. Our kids were very good while we got in and out of the car all morning. They slept off and on and talked and entertained each other in the back seat. Adria's son is a little over 3 months old so Cheyenne couldn't really play with him too much. But she still enjoyed the company! We stopped at Wal-Mart for a few things before grabbing some lunch and heading home. We had a lot of fun and were glad we found some good deals. I think we may have to do that more often!



We got home at 2 something (I think) and Scott was awake so we talked to him and showed him our good deals. After Scott went to work at 5, Cheyenne and I cleaned house. Cheyenne decided she wanted to help today.





After cleaning we went for a walk and Cheyenne fell asleep after about 2 blocks! We got back from our walk and she woke up when I took her out of the stroller so I sat her in the chair. I was putting things away and came back and she was sleep again. She slept for about 2 hours! I guess the day of shopping and cleaning wore her out!

Bye-Bye Mimi

The picture I posted yesterday could be the last picture you see of Cheyenne with her mimi (what she calls her pacifier) in her mouth. On Wednesday, my mom watched Cheyenne from about 1:00 until almost 10:00. During that time Cheyenne didn't have her mimi at all! She found one when she got back to our house and had it when she went to bed. Yesterday when she was eating breakfast I took it and she didn't have it all day! She took a nap and even went to sleep last night without it! We'll keep going and make sure we hide them all and hopefully getting rid of the mimi won't be difficult!

So far it has actually been easy for her to quit cold turkey. We quit nursing on Memorial Day and didn't have any problems. At that time she was only nursing at night and went to sleep without it just fine. A plus for me was that I wasn't in pain like most people say they were. I think it was because I wasn't producing very much milk and I'm pregnant. The next time may be a little rougher! Now giving up the mimi has been easy (so far...we'll give it a week or so)! Now we'll see how potty training goes! I hope her brother or sister is this easy! We have been very blessed with the normal rough times that people go through with their infants and toddlers. Ours have gone smoothly! Thank you God!

Little Monkey

Cheyenne likes to crawl all over you when you are sitting on the couch or on the bed. We call her a little monkey. When we were in KC I found this shirt. Doesn't she look like the monkey on her shirt?

After I took Cheyenne's picture yesterday she got ahold of the camera. She now knows how to turn it on and actually took a picture yesterday. This is her picture!

Maybe she was trying to take a picture of her little brother or sister in my belly!

Playing with Water

Sunday evening we were outside grilling hamburges for supper and decided to water the garden. Cheyenne was playing in the water dripping from the faucet and Scott sprayed her with the hose. Then she wanted to play with it. She loved getting sprayed and playing in the water!

Sophisticated

While cleaning house this weekend we found some glasses that I bought back in high school just for looks. They aren't prescription. Cheyenne likes wearing glasses, usually sunglasses, and these weren't any different!

Stinky Leak

Yesterday around 5:15 Scott called me at work and said he thought we had a gas leak. He could smell it really bad in the laundry room where our furnace, water softener, hot water heater and washer and dryer are. I told him to call the city and have someone come look at it. Aquila was there by 6:00. Luckily it wasn't a gas leak. It was sewer gas. We have 2 drains in the basement in showers and what used to be a shower that never get used. They had dried out and that's what Scott smelled. We had to keep pouring water down them yesterday evening. They did check for gas leaks though and didn't find any but did find a carbon monixide leak. It was coming out of our hot water heater. Scott couldn't get to the store last night to get the part to fix it so we had to shut the water heat off. We still had hot water to take showers this morning. Scott got it fixed this afternoon. Thank goodness for the stinky leak otherwise we may not have found the carbon monoxide leak. Maybe we need to get a carbon monoxide detector.

3 years

Today is my 3 year anniversary at the Lyons Recreation Commission and Iron Works Fitness. I know 3 years isn't a milestone or anything but I'm amazed that I remembered it was today. I also want to thank Junior and Staci for being so wonderful to work for and with. I enjoy coming to work everyday. I have learned a lot in the last 3 years. I've learned so much more than my degree taught me. In the rec field, they always say experience is so important. I've come to realize that. Classes can't teach you how to deal with parents, coaches, officials or any other person involved with recreation activities. I'm glad that I was able to get a job with a recreation commission in a small town. I enjoy dealing with people one-on-one and knowing who the kids and parents are and can put a face with a name. It's also nice to get to know those people when you see them on the street. I don't think I have made anyone mad enough that they won't say hi when I see them around town! I have gained many responsibilities also. Some of them have been a little overwhelming, such as the baseball and softball scheduling this year, but I'm glad I have the opportunity to learn how to do them and also ways to improve in the future. The LRC has tackled several issues in these 3 years. It's been interesting learning how to deal with certain things that happen that you can never really be prepared for. We've also had some honors, like being able to host a regional baseball tournament. I look forward to my future in the recreation field at the Lyons Recreation Commission. I've learned so much but there is so much more for me to learn.

Off Tuesdays

Today is the first day off Scott's week off. The Monday before he gets off I seem to be so excited like we are going on vacation or something on Tuesday. But it's just that Scott has a week of and Cheyenne and I get to see him and spend time with him. Scott is usually in a good mood on these Tuesdays too! Most of the time he stays up all day after working all night. On the weeks that he works, we don't get to see him much, maybe a few minutes in the mornings if he stays up for awhile and we get up early. This morning he woke Cheyenne and I up around 7:00 and we went to Hutch. Madden 08 came out today so we had to go get it! Cheyenne loves it when her daddy is off work too because she gets to stay home and play with him. It seems like when Scott's off Cheyenne is a daddy's girl! This makes Scott feel good since he doesn't see her much the week before. Scott and I still don't get to spend a lot of time together when he's off until the weekend, especially if he still sleeps late in the mornings, but knowing that I will get to see him when I get home from work puts me in a good mood all day!

Tired

The first few weeks of this pregnancy I was very tired. Luckily Cheyenne was sleeping late (between 8:30 and 9:30) in the mornings so I could sleep too. Then I got over the tiredness which was a good thing because Cheyenne was getting up earlier. Lately I've been tired again. Cheyenne and I go to bed around 10:30 or 11. I could sleep all morning but Cheyenne has other ideas. She has been waking up between 5:30 and 6:30! I am not ready to get up at that time! Sometimes Scott is still up after getting home from work and he takes her so I can go back to bed and then she is ready to go back to sleep when he comes to bed. This morning Cheyenne woke up at 1:00, 5:00 and 6:30. Scott was still up so he took her for awhile. When he came to bed at 8:00 she wasn't ready to go to sleep. She threw a fit. Scott decided to take her to get donuts. After they got back and ate she was ready to go to sleep. She slept in bed with us and her and I finally got up at 10! For some reason this morning I just couldn't wake up. I even took a nap yesterday. Hopefully Cheyenne and I both get through these phases and we can get on the same schedule soon.

New Phone

My cell phone died last week so on Friday I got a new one. Unfortunately since my phone wouldn't turn on, they couldn't get the phone numbers I had stored off of it. So, if any of you could comment and leave your phone numbers that would be great! The new phone I got was a Razr. I had a camera on my other phone but was unable to send pictures. Now I can send pictures. So here is a picture I took with it on Saturday when we went shopping in Wichita. I lost all the pictures off of my other phone but hopefully will be able to keep these!

Play Date

Today Staci brought Brody over for awhile while she went to McPherson to check out a gym over there. Cheyenne and Brody had fun playing. So much fun that Brody didn't want to take a nap! They kept my camera busy! They were so much fun!

I found a picture of Jake on the hospital website. Just thought I would share it with you all. If you didn't read the blog about him, it was written on August 2nd. You can go back and look at it. Isn't he a handsome little boy?!

Relay For Life

Friday and Saturday was the Rice County Relay for Life. I was out at the high school track setting things up at noon on Friday. The relay started at 7:00 pm and ended at 7:00 am. I think I was back at home by 7:30 Saturday morning. This was my first relay and it seemed like everything went well. We had 6 teams raise money and walk. Overall we raised over $13,000 for the American Cancer Society. We had about 30 survivors walk the survivor lap. There were 664 luminaries surrounding the LHS track. I think it was a successful event. We'd like to raise more money and they have in the past so I guess we have a goal for next year. Thanks to all of those who participated and gave time, money, or in-kind donations to the event and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Rice County. The money raised goes to research and finding a cure for cancer. The survivors are proof that we have come a long way and it can be overcome. We must keep fighting. Someday there will be a cure. Thanks again to all involved and if you weren't there is always next year!

The RC Dawgs came out early and filled luminary bags with sand and placed them around the track. This helped out alot!

My mom and Brittany helped in the concession stand. Brittany went to my house and got Cheyenne about 9:15. She liked walking around the track! She would rather have a piggy back ride sometimes though!

Welcome to the Family

Yesterday we added a member to our family. Jake Money Hayes (a.k.a. Cash) was born to Scott's dad and stepmom Dianna. He weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. and was 23 inches long! He's a big boy already! Taking after his older brother! They say he has big hands and feet! I don't have a picture to post yet but I will when I get one.

On another baby note. I had my second doctor appointment today. Everything went well. We heard the heartbeat again and it was 160. We have a sonogram scheduled before our next appointment September 4th. So Scott and I have a month to compromise on finding out the sex of the baby. He wants to and I don't. He doesn't want to keep it a secret if he finds out either. So either way I'd find out! We'll see what the next 4 weeks brings!

Closing

Six years ago my parents purchased and began running the T-bird Center, a convenience store in Bushton. Yesterday they closed the doors. Financially it just wasn't supporting their family. They did have someone decide to purchase the store. I'm not sure when they take over ownership. They recently decided to purchase it and everything wouldn't be finalized by today.



Since purchasing the store, my parents made a few updates. The main one being that they added an grill and fryer and started serving food. A couple years ago they added Hunt Brothers Pizza. The food helped them out a lot but it still wasn't enough. Over the 6 years, the store was broken into 3 times. Things were stolen, mostly beer and cigarettes and some money, and doors were broken. Most of the citizens of Bushton were helpful during these times. They even gave money to pay the insurance deductible to get the doors fixed. My family is thankful to those people who cared so much to help us out during hard times.



My brother, sisters and I all worked in the store. This was my job after graduating from college while looking for a job. By running the store, it has enabled my father to become the high school head girls basketball coach. He wants to continue to coach so now must find a job that will enable him to do that.



I pray that the new owners can do well in the store and keep it open for the people of Bushton. I also pray that my dad can find something that will enable him to continue coaching and also provide for my mom and sisters still at home.



Thank you to all of those people who patronized the T-Bird Center while the Clark's were owners the last 6 years.
