Starting to Walk

Cheyenne has been pulling herself up to things very easily lately. She can move around things pretty well but doesn't dare let go! She has been walking behind her little car. I've cried watching her do it several times. My little girl is getting so big. Here is one of the videos of her pushing her car.

First Stairs

I was just up in the gym at the rec commission and I had to go up into the balcony/batting cage to get another mat to set up for gymnastics . As I am getting ready to come back down I see Cheyenne coming up! She crawled up the first flight of stairs into the balcony. It is about 4 or 5 stairs! This is the first time she has actually crawled up them. Usually she stands up at the bottom. It's exciting that she has done something new but also means we are going to have to watch her more closely until she learns to go down them also!

UPDATE: I went to the dr. this morning for my elbow because it was more swollen last night and today. He said it could be some tendonitis but he wasn't really sure because I could bend my wrist back and it didn't hurt when he tried to push it forward. He told me to take some Ibuprofen. I had been taking Tylenol because of nursing Cheyenne but he said Cheyenne and I should be ok if I take Ibuprofen. The pain isn't bad anymore I just can't straighten or bend it all the way. That could be from the swelling. Hopefully Ibuprofen helps and I'll be good in a couple days.

Update

I officiated my games today. The only thing I had trouble with was calling a travel. I talked to one of the coaches who is a physical therapist and he said it looked like tendonitis or something like that. So Maybe it is Tennis elbow. I will keep ice on it and keep moving it so it doesn't get stiff (even though it hurts).

On another note. It was 60 degrees when I left to go officiate at 2:00 so I decided to walk. It is only 2 blocks so why not. When I left at 5:15 it was blowing snow! I got a ride home!! This weather is crazy, going from 60 degress down to 35 in probably less than 3 hours. I'm supposed to go out to eat and to a movie with a friend tomorrow. I hope the weather just passes through.

Pain

Several weeks ago, after playing volleyball, I had a little pain in my elbow. I didn't think much of it. It didn't hurt bad and didn't last long. I just figured I strained something. It hasn't really bothered me lately. Well, yesterday it was hurting a little more and last night I couldn't sleep because the pain was so bad. I got up and put some ice on it. That helped a little. I didn't want to take any meds until after I nursed Cheyenne this morning. About 4:45 I decided to get up and take a shower and maybe that would relax me and it would feel better. I couldn't bend my arm enough to use it to wash my hair. I washed my hair with mostly my right arm. Scott got home shortly after I got out of the shower and he just said to put some ice on it and work on moving it. It is a little swollen. We talked for awhile and then I decided to put the ice on it and go back to bed. I finally fell asleep and then he came to bed and moved the covers I had holding my arm up with the ice pack. Then I had to get comfortable again. I slept for about 30 minutes when Cheyenne woke up. It was hard getting her out of her crib, especially since it is on the lowest level. I was glad she was up so I could feed her and take some Tylenol. The pain isn't so bad now but I still can't move it to grab things and pick Cheyenne up like normal. We'll see how today goes. I am officiating 2 of our youth basketball games this afternoon. Good thing I raise my right arm to make calls! I have volleyball tomorrow and Monday so hopefully I can play. There's only 3 weeks left of volleyball so I'm hoping I can stick it out if there is something wrong. I hope it's just a muscle and not a cracked or chipped bone. I'll keep you updated.

Sad Ending

Last night Quivira Heights girls played Little River in regional basketball. This game determined who went on to Sub-state and who didn't. It was a close game but Quivira Heights ended up on the losing end. They played good but missed a lot of easy buckets and free throws. With a record of 19-2 they are done for the season. They had high hopes of going on to sub-state and even state. It was sad seeing the seniors play their last game. I was in their shoes once. Your last game in any sport is always hard. I'm glad I was able to see the last game of the season. I was looking forward to sub-state and state games but I guess we'll have to wait until next year. Quivira Heights still has some young and talented girls and should be in the running again next year.

Daddy Time

Last week was Scott's week off. He went back to work last night. He tried to stay on our schedule so we could spend time together. We did get more time together but it threw his schedule completely off and he was extrememly tired at work last night. When Scott's off he tries to watch Cheyenne as much as he can. It's nice that they get to spend that time together. We hope that someday we can all be on similar schedules and get more time together as a family but for now we will enjoy the days we do get.

"Talking"

Cheyenne has really been "talking" lately. On our way to Wichita Saturday she was talking up a storm! Here is a short video of it. Can you translate?

Weekend update

I know I said I would let you know how Friday night went on Saturday but we decided to go to Wichita when Cheyenne got home. We enjoyed ourselves Friday night and my cousin said Cheyenne did well for her. She didn't get up until 8:15 and they brought her home at 9:30. We had a good time in Wichita. We just did some shopping and went out to eat with family that was in Wichita too.

Back to Friday night and bowling. We got there a little after 10 and they had started bowling for us. Then we got to bowl the second game for ourselves. I beat everyone with a 168! I couldn't find a ball that fit my hand right so I wasn't sure how I would do but I did good! It's always fun beating Scott because he is so competitive!

Leaving Cheyenne

I just found out that some friends asked us to go Cosmic bowling with them tonight in Great Bend. It doesn't start until 10:00 but this means we are going to leave Cheyenne. My mom and sisters uaually watch Cheyenne on these occasions but are at a basketball game tonight and won't be home until around 10:30. My cousin (who has 4 kids!) said she would watch her and even keep her overnight. I'm a little nervous about leaving her but know she is in good hands. I mainly worry that she won't sleep for my cousin. If I need to go get her early in the morning I will. I'm hoping we can have a good time tonight! I haven't been bowling in forever so we'll see how I do!! I will let you know tomorrow!!

Stairs and Momma's Purse

Cheyenne is very mobile and into everything these days. She keeps us busy! She is pulling herself up on everything she can. She can climb the 2 stairs at my parents' going up into the kitchen. Sometimes it's a little scary watching her when she sits down right at the top but she gets up there. She has started pulling herself up to our stairs in the basement but hasn't quite figured out how to get up more than one stair. Getting up will be the easy part...trying to go back down will be a different story!

One of these days she will be up and down these stairs like it's nothing.

Besides climbing up to everything, she is getting into anything she can. She got into my purse the other day and had everything pulled out of it. I can't wait until the day she figures out how to open my wallet and get the money out! Then there's the occasional tube of lipstick or lotion I may have in there!

Basketball Player

On Saturday I had to officiate some basketball games for our youth league. My sister watched Cheyenne at the gym while I was there. Afterwards when we were cleaning up and everyone was gone Cheyenne could finally crawl all over the place. She loves basketballs! We hope she will play basketball when she gets older but we are starting her early!!! Over the next couple weeks she will hopefully get to watch a lot of basketball. Next week starts Regionals for Quivira Heights. They are 18-0 so far and I am excited to watch them through the end of the season. They went to sub-state last year so hopefully they can make it to State this year.

She chased this ball all over the court!

How do you sleep?

Cheyenne took a nap yesterday in her little chair. She was sleeping fine and then she leaned her head back. I thought she was stretching and waking up but she was still sleep. It hurt my neck just looking at her. She does sleep in her bed on her side with her head back so it must be comfortable for her.
Sleeping in her chair with her head back.

She also sleeps with her arm across her face.

This is as close as I could find to her sleeping with her head back but she also sleeps crooked in her bed.

She can sleep on anything.

She falls asleep in her high chair.

She can sleep through a basketball game too.

I shared this picture with you once but she can also sleep sitting up part way. And I don't have a picture of it but remember when she was sitting straight up and sleeping?!

Babies seem to be able to sleep anywhere or in any position. As we get older those positions or places aren't quite so comfortable. Sometimes I wish they could be though!

For Uncle Dustin-playing with car

I can't get my videos to post to the same post that I write. Until I figure it out I will do separate ones. Sorry.

Uncle Dustin and Sara gave Cheyenne this car (not sure that's what it's called but that's what I'm gonna call it) for Christmas. She has been sitting by it and playing with it. Last night we put her on it and she moved backwards a little bit. She also stood behind it for awhile. It won't be long and she will be pushing/riding it all over the house!Daddy is pushing her on it!

Crib

Cheyenne has become so much more mobile. She wouldn't stay on the bed the other day while I was trying to put clothes away. I put her in her crib. She was all over it! Standing up, crawling from side to side and reaching for things through the slots. We are going to have to lower the mattress to the lowest level this weekend. I have posted a video of her in the crib (I will try to post videos when I can for those of you who don't get to see Cheyenne very often). Here are pictures from her playing in the crib.

She is pulling herself up.

She also likes to chew on the rail.

And now we are standing up!

"Look Ma! I'm a big girl!"

This is my favorite picture! Smiling for the camera!

Curls

Yesterday we bought some curlers for Cheyenne's hair. I wanted to see if that would help the curl stay. Last night after her bath I put 2 of them in. She didn't mind me doing it and they stayed in her hair most of the night.

Here are the before pictures with the curlers!

And the after...

Because she can crawl now she tries to come to the camera instead of sitting there and letting me take her picture. These are as good as I could get this morning.

This is her playing under the table while I fixed lunch.
