My Early Risers

The girls like to get up early in the mornings. Cheryl is usally up by 5:30 or 6. She even wakes up 2-3 times during the night. This morning she was up at 5:30 and we got a shower and got ready for the day. Cheyenne was up around 6:30. She is usually ready to watch cartoons when she gets up. When I was in high school and college I would get up this early but when I was working 1-9 pm at LRC I would get up anywhere between 8 & 10! Now my body is back in the early routine. I kind of like it though because I seem to get more done during the day!

Good Bye Mustang, Hello Malibu Maxx

I got my first car, a '96 Mustang, in the summer of '99. Monday I said good-bye to it.

It was a pretty good car and stayed running for 9 years for me! I made a lot of trips in it back & forth to Colby my first 2 years of college! It had 177,000 miles on it with a new motor at 60,000. It hadn't left town the last few years because it wasn't reliable but when Scott got the job at Bushton he started driving it to work. It got him there and back with not too many problems.

I took it to my first day of work at Hoisington and was headed to McPherson after work when a deer ran into me! Yes, he hit me, I didn't hit him. He hit the passenger side of the car and dented in the front fender, tore the mirror off, bent the antenna and dented in the door. We turned it into insurance and it totaled it. It was still drivable so Scott was still taking it to work but you couldn't open the passenger side door. We made the decision to let insurance take the car. The extra $500 was probably more than we could get out of it to sell it or salvage it.

Hello Malibu Maxx!

Scott found it online. It was for sale by an individual in Dodge City. On Sunday morning we headed to Dodge to check it out. We decided we would take it but the guy wouldn't take a personal check. We headed back home and went back when I got off work Monday evening with a cashier's check to get it.

I have been driving it to work now and really enjoy it. There's plenty of room and it has a remote start! That's going to come in handy this winter! It also gets much better gas mileage than the Tahoe! With the price of gas so low, $1.66 here, and good gas mileage, the 84 miles I drive every day won't hurt us as bad!

It was sad to say good-bye to my first car but I do enjoy my new one!

Habiger Wedding

This past weekend a high school classmate of mine got married in Wakeeney. It was a very nice wedding, except that Cheryl starting throwing a fit during the middle of it and I had to take her out.

The reception was fun too! Cheyenne had a blast dancing! She would dance with anyone that would dance with her!

Cheryl fell asleep early so she didn't get to dance as much. When she woke up she danced a lot with me!

There were several of us from the class of 2000 there. It was good to see them and catch up on what was going on in their lives. A couple of them I haven't seen for a few years!

We also got a picture of all of us kids! We don't get these as often these days now that we're almost all out of the house.

It was a good weekend with friends and family!

My Last Day at LRC

With the new job I've been really busy and not home as much so I'm a little late in posting this and I've posted it backwards with my first day post but wanted to share these pictures with you.

October 29th was my last day as an employee at LRC. It was a sad day with many tears shed. I have worked there for 4 years. It was my first recreation job. I loved it! Junior and Staci and the board of commissioners were a great bunch of people to work for. It was an awesome job! I loved the people I met while working there. I miss them terribly. When Scott and I started our family and had Cheyenne they allowed me to take her to work with me. Then when Cheryl was born Cheyenne went to daycare, and Cheryl came to work with me. When I started working the morning shift and had to be to work by 5 am they both came with me. That was the best of both worlds. I got to spend time with my children and have a career. I thank them for allowing me to do that. I know there were times that my children were crying or a hindrance but it seemed to all work out. Now that I work 8 hours during normal day time the girls are going to daycare (and are there for about 10 hours because of the drive) and I miss them lots. I do spend more time in the mornings and evenings playing with them though. And we have the drive to talk and sing and be silly! I still shed a few tears when I think about what I left behind in Lyons but I thank everyone there for the experience I gained that got me the job of Director I have in Hoisington. I wasn't planning on leaving Lyons but this job just kind of fell in my lap. I have just completed my first week of work for HRC and I think it went well. I should know how to do most things and be on my own now. It's been and adjsutment to be in the highest authority position over people I don't really know. The board keeps telling me, "You're in charge!". I know it will take some time to get used to the change but I think I'm going to like it. Lyons will always have a special place in my heart and I plan on staying in contact with Junior and Trey and the many other people I met from there.

Trick-or-Treating in Colby

Halloween night we took the girls trick-or-treating in Colby with my cousins. They had a good time. Cheryl didn't last long and she was asleep. After each house Cheyenne would say, "Come on. Let's go get some more candy!"

Cheyenne got a good back full of candy. Although when she got to choose she picked the colorful sugery ones and Scott and I would have prefered her grab the chocolate!

Most people would see Cheryl back in the stroller and say "we have one more back there better have some more candy!" We knew that was going to be ours!

Cheyenne's Last Day at Cornerstone

October 29th was Cheyenne's last day at Cornerstone Daycare. When she first started going after I had Cheryl it was a chore to take her there. We left her kicking and screaming and crying for about 2 weeks. After that she wanted to go! But she always still gave us a hug and kiss before we left. She made many friends there and loved her teachers. They do a great job with the kids! She learned lots from there. I hope we can continue working with her so she doesn't loose what she gained.

Director

Monday I started my new job as Director/Program Specialist for Hoisington Recreation Commission. The last 3 days have gone well. I know most things that are going on and have started working on activities for the next flyer. I have met quite few people so far. The Activity Center was the voting site for Hoisington so I saw lots of people come in and out on Tuesday. The Activity Center is pretty big so I'm still learning where everything is at. So far my days have gone fairly quickly, although I miss my girls. They both go to daycare all day while I work. They are in daycare in Bushton. I drop them off around 8:15 am on my way to Hoisington. I get off at 5:30 pm and woudl pick them up around 6. Mom has volunteered to pick them up the last couple days so it wasn't so late for them. It will be nice when I can get them in a daycare in Hoisington. I enjoy my new job but miss being with my girls so much and getting off at 1 pm. It's nice to sleep a little later though. I look forward to the duties of a director and hope that it all goes well. When our house sells we'll get moved to Hoisington so I won't be away from my girls as much and won't be spending an hour and a half on the road everyday.

Thursday morning, I loaded the girls in the Tahoe about 5 am and headed to Bushton to pick Scott up and then we headed to Goodland. We got to spend all of Thursday and some of Friday with him. Friday night we went Trick-or-Treating with my cousins in Colby (I'll do another post about that). We got up around 6:30 this morning and headed for home. We stopped in Holyrood for the Fireman's pig roast. It was yummy. It was a quick trip but it was enjoyable to just get a away for a couple days.

Sub-State Volleyball

Yesterday QH played in sub-state volleyball in Montezuma. They played Montezuma in the first round. It went 3 matches but we won. It was on to the finals agains Pratt Skyline. This was the team we beat in the finals of sub-state last year to make it to state. We knew they were going to be out for revenge.

Staci is a junior so they will have one more year to try and make it to state. They are loosing 2 good players so they'll have to work hard. This season is over but I look forward to next year!

Gunner James

Gunner James Goalden graced us with his presence on October 26th! Cheyenne and Cheryl finally have a cousin and Scott and I are an uncle and aunt! Everyone is doing well. We can't wait to meet him! He weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz and 19.5 inches long.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to the Parent's as Teachers Pumpkin Patch. Cheryl slept most of the time and Cheyenne got to walk the trails and get goodies to make Trail Mix.
