So Close

Last Friday Staci competed in the 1A Regional Track and Field meet. Her events were the 4x800 relay and 4x400 relay. They got 9th place in the 4x800 and 5th in the 4x400. The 4x400 was so close. Atwood beat her at the finish line. They take the top 4 place from each regional to state so unfortunately Staci didn't make it this year in an event. She's only a freshman though so hopefully she will have other chances. She does however still get to be involved in the state track meet at Wichita this weekend. She is an alternate for the 4x100 in case someone gets hurt or sick. We hope that doesn't happen but she's there just in case. I wish all of the athletes competing at state the best of luck and look forward to watching all the events. I haven't been to the state track meet for a couple years so Scott and I decided we would go this year.

On to High School

Last Wednesday, the 16th Scott's sister Samantha was promoted from 8th grade. It's hard to believe that she is going to be in high school. She was in Kindergarten when Scott and I started dating! We are proud of her for what she has accomplished so far. She has been through a few different schools on her way to high school. She made the transitions well. We know she will do well with the transition into high school also.

Jonathan Lee

My friend Adria finally had her precious little boy on Wednesday, May 16th at 7:26 am. He weighed 7 lbs. 13.4 oz. and was 21 inches long. He was due May 12th so he was a little late. She was induced on Tuesday and he didn't come until Wednesday. Cheyenne and I went to see them yesterday. It is weird holding a baby so tiny when I'm used to holding Cheyenne. Here are some pictures from the hospital.

We are so happy for the Kaisers! We can't wait for them to come home and for Cheyenne and Jonathan to become playmates!

Season Over

Wilson played their second game of Regionals in Sylvan Grover yesterday. They started out ok. But had a rough 5th inning. They ended up losing 11-1. Sylvan's record was 16-1 coming into this game. Wilson played them well the first few innings considering their record was 2-9. I'm glad I got to watch them play the last couple games. From what I heard from several people in the stand, they improved a lot over the season. This was the first year for softball and I'm sure they will only improve as more girls get experience over the years.

Since this game was in the middle of the afternoon I tried to keep Cheyenne out of the sun!

The umpire on the far right is a friend from Fort Hays! He umpired Tuesday and Wednesday's games. I got to talk to him a little bit Tuesday. He did a good job! It's always fun going to game because a lot of times I do see friends and classmates from college officiating games. That was our occupation in college!

Last night my Dad and sister's softball team, Wilson Dragons, played their first game in Regionals. The game was supposed to be in Plainville but they had too much rain so they moved it to Wilson. I was able to attend. My sister told me, "This could be my last game." So of course I felt bad. I like to attend as many games as possible but especially the post season games when it's do or die. Their record was 1-9 going into this game. And now it is 2-9! The won 14-0! They played really well! I was proud of them. My sister did well too! So today they play at 3:00 in Sylvan which I am contemplating going to. It could be another exciting game!

On the Go

Cheyenne took her first steps about a month ago and is not to the point where she walks everywhere. It used to be that when she would fall she would start crawling. Now when she falls she stand right back up and starts walking again. I sit on the couch and just watch her walk all over the house. She is officially a toddler.

Mother's Day

Yesterday was my second Mother's Day. Last year Cheyenne was a little over a month old and was baptized on Mother's Day. This year she is walking and so much more active! My parents invited us to go eat in Great Bend with them and my grandparents. I got to be with my mom and grandmas on Mother's Day. It was extra special! Before we met them for supper we went to the zoo. Brit Spaugh Zoo is free to the public but doesn't have a lot of animals. It was fun to take her and see how she reacts to the animals. She got excited for some and scared of others. Some of them she couldn't see unless they moved. We enjoyed the afternoon at the zoo and dinner with mother's and grandmothers.



We decided we would take a picture of me with Cheyenne and any future children every year on Mother's Day. Scott even said we'd take a picture when we were both mothers. (But it better be 25 years from now!)

Garage Sale

Last Saturday I met my friend/co-worker, Staci in Sterling for the city wide garage sales. We found some good deals. I got a few outfits, some shoes, toys, a couple books and some cassette tapes of children's songs. I think overall I spent $7.45. Not bad for a morning of shopping! I enjoyed spending time with Staci too. We don't get much time besides the time our shifts overlap at work.

Water, Water Everywhere

Between the storms and the rain when is it gonna stop? My parents have tons of water at their house. They have to go the long way around to get to town. My youngest sister got stuck in Chase at her boyfriends. Highway 56 was closed between Lyons and Chase and mom and dad couldn't get in there to pick her up. My parent's had been in town and my sister decided to stay with me. My parents made it back home but the water was still rising. They have also been without power since yesterday morning, along with my grandparents. Their neighbors to the west live right by Cow Creek and had to be evacuated from their home by a tractor. At one point I heard they had 3 feet of water in their house. I'm sure it's more than that now.

My co-worker, Staci couldn't get to work this morning because they closed Hwy 96/14 between Sterling and Lyons. As today went on they closed more roads to the south of us. I heard that several people had to be evacuated by boat from Saxman. They were routing people around through Hutchinson and McPherson to get from Sterling to Lyons and vise versa.

There's about a 30% chance of rain tonight. I hope the water can go down enough for people to get to their local destinations.

Ellinwod Track Meet

Friday I worked the morning shift at work (5:30-1) and was able to go to my sistetr's track meet at Ellinwood. She did pretty good the 4x800 relay got 2nd and I'm not sure what place she got in the 400 or 4x400 relay. She ran some good races.

A late night/early morning

Last night there were several tornados and storms in central Kansas. Cheyenne and I were at my sister's track meet in Ellinwood when we heard that we were in a tornado warning. We got home as soon as possible only to see that a tornado hit Greensburg. The storm was moving northeast towards Macksville and St. John. Then it was in Barton County outside of Great Bend and Ellinwood. "We were just in Ellinwood!" They said it could hit the southwest part of Rice County. I gathered clothes for Scott, Cheyenne and I, pillows and blankets, water and Cheyenne's diaper bag. I cleaned out the things we had stored under the stairs in the basement and put those things under there incase we had to go for cover in a hurry. We also had a twin mattress sitting the the room by the stairs that I was prepared to pull over us. Luckily the storm and bad tornados missed us. Several other towns and areas weren't so lucky. Scott was at work but I kept calling him and my parents to make sure everyone was ok. As the storm continued north Claflin and Holyrood were in it's path. My sister was in Holyrood at a friends house! I kept an eye on channel 3 to see if she was going to be in danger. They ended up going to the basement at her friends but nothing hit there. It did hit Claflin though with 100 mph winds damaging several structures. Claflin is 8 miles from Holyrood. Then they said Ellsworth county was in danger. Scott's mom was working in Ellsworth at the Good Sam. Once it had passed all of this area I decided it was probably ok for me to go to bed, it was 3 am. Everyone is ok today but more storms with tornados are in the forcast for today and tomorrow. I'm leaving our things in the basement.

For those of you who don't know...

Approximately 95% of Greensburg is destroyed. Please keep them in your prayers. We have played basketball and volleyball there and it is devasting to see the damage there.

Yesterday I gave Cheyenne spaghetti to eat by herself. I just had her in her diaper and let her have at it! She ate it with her fingers. She loved it! I did have to give her a bath when she was done though!

Cheyenne has learned to take a drink and the push it out of her mouth and let it run down her chin and the front of her. She thinks it is pretty funny! I usually get on to her and tell her no and to stop but this day I thought I'd get it on video!
