Cheryl's First Birthday

On January 15th my baby turned 1 year old! :( This year went by so fast. It seems like it went by so much faster with Cheryl than with just Cheyenne. On the 17th we had her birthday party. Scott had to work so we had it in the evening when he got off work. Scott's mom was able to make it from Texas and several other friends and family were there.

Cheyenne helped me make the cake (and eat it too)!

Cheryl opening presents.

Chey got a present too. We weren't really paying attention to her and all of a sudden she threw her monkey on the floor. Then we realized she was singing 5 Little Monkey's jumping on the bed! One fell off and bumped his head!

Cheryl's very own chocolate cake she gets to eat by herself!

Digging in!

She really enjoyed it! Scott thought it would be funny to tell her to play peek-a-boo!

Many more happy birthdays to my little girl!

I'm Still Here

Well, it's been over a month since I've posted a blog. I've got lots planned just none posted. I'm so busy with work (I can't do them there) and with the extra time on the road I just haven't had time to post them. Then our monitor went out on our computer so that delayed things even longer. I have been home with a sick little girl since Saturday afternoon and today I hooked the computer up to our tv upstairs to use as a monitor. Cheyenne has been running a fever of 99-104 since Saturday. Both girls have runny noses and coughs. I started couging this morning too. It's been a rough few days. I took Chey to the dr. yesterday and she said it's just a virus and we'll have to let it run it's course. She sleeps a lot so hopefully she'll get through it. Probably just in time for Cheryl to get worse! The girls are both sleeping right now so I took the chance to at least post this one. I promise I will get them all on here soon. I am going to a friend's wedding in Phoenix this weekend so I will have lots to post when I get back.

Scott's Toy

I know many of you have heard about Scott's new toy but if you don't live around here you probably haven't seen it yet! Scott got this 1999 Corvette in November. He really enjoys it. We sold the motorcycle and got this toy. This one can be driven year round! Scott takes it to work whenever the weather isn't too cold. It actually gets the best gas mileage (when Scott drives it nice) out of all of our vehicles! I've taken it to work a couple times. You have to be pretty careful on dips, railroad tracks and parking next to curbs so I don't like driving it too often. It's Scott's baby and I don't want to hurt it!

Clark Christmas

Yesterday we got together to celebrate Christmas with my dad's family. This year it was at Unlce Alan's in Great Bend. We enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Dad and his brothers sat at a table together with Grandma. This was the first time they'd done that in many years.

The rest of us sat wherever to enjoy our meal.

Scott and Matthew played basketball in Ellinwood and were pooped out when they got back!

Brennan deciding which gift he wants!

For Grandma's 70th birthday in May, all of her kids and almost all of her grandkids surprised her with a party in the park in Great Bend. We got a picture of us all. My picture was the only one that turned out. I had it blown up and got a frame and gave it to grandma for Christmas.

The guys hanging out. They are all coaches so I'm sure the topic they were discussing was basketball!

Christmas Day

Christmas Day did start out very well. I woke up at 4:30 am to Cheryl throwing up all over me! I don't know what it was, that was the only time she threw up all day and acted fine after that. I took her downstairs to help me wrap some presents for the Goalden Christmas on Friday. She started crawling to me and I picked her up, she had a pen in her hand and I must have picked her up just right because she stuck it up my nose! It gave me a bloody nose! After those 2 things, I wondered what else the day would hold. When Cheyenne finally woke up, she saw that Santa had been at our house and tore into her presents.
Santa brought her a big (or heavy like she calls him) Micky and Minnie. Cheryl got a bouncing Tigger, a hugable Pooh and some bath toys.
The girls also got Hallmark ornaments in their stockings from Santa. This was a tradition that Santa has always done for my brother, sisters and I.
The girls got lots of clothes! They were needing long sleeve shirts so I think they have plenty now!
Cheyenne also got a Monkey robe and Spongebob PJ's!
Cheryl crashed before all the presents were opened. I guess 4:30 was a little early for her! Cheyenne didn't mind opening the rest of Cheryl's gifts!
We were planning on Scott's brother coming over sometime that day. They called that morning and asked if we'd want to go up to Ellsworth to his in-laws instead. We decided we would and went up there for a Christmas dinner and some visiting time.
We enjoyed seeing our nephew, Gunner.

This was about the best picture I could get of the three of them. Cheryl didn't want to sit still and was cranky. Cheyenne liked that she got to hold Gunner for the picture!

It was a very Merry Christmas! We were so glad we got to spend it with family!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve we went to church with my family in Holyrood. Scott didn't get off work until 6 and church started at 6 so he didn't make it. After church we headed to my parents' house for some snacks, drinks and opening presents.

I tried to get a picture of the girls infront of the tree before we left for church but they weren't cooperating.

Our Family!

It took several tries to get a good family picture!

Cheyenne opening presents.

Cheryl would rather crawl on them than open them!

Aunt B gave Cheyenne make-up!

My parents gave Cheyenne a microphone! It plays songs and she can record into it! She loves singing and dancing with it!

She was entertaining us all!

Cheryl got a baby doll from Mema and Papa.

Dad was having a hard time opening his box! It couldn't be becuase it was taped all the way around!

Cheryl liked to play peek-a-boo with her clothes.

Scott was tired from a hard days work. Cheyenne thought the baby needed to lay with daddy too!

We played Imaginiff, a game my sister gave us, until around midnight and then we headed home. The girls were still awake when we left! They crashed not too far down the road though. We enjoyed another Christmas Eve with family!

Explosion

KSN Online

Story Created: Dec 14, 2008 at 1:33 PM CST
Story Updated: Dec 14, 2008 at 2:26 PM CST
WICHITA, Kansas -- An explosion at the Bushton Oneok plant in Rice Co. has left one person injured and has shut down the plant. The victim is being treated at a Wichita hospital.

It happened around 7:30 am Sunday in Bushton, about 45 minutes outside of Great Bend.

An Oneok spokesperson says officials there aren't sure how bad the explosion was, but that fire crews were working to put out a resulting fire. The plant has been shut down with no estimated time or date for it to re-open.

KSN's Great Bend bureau chief Kera Mashek is working the scene. Stay with KSN and KSN.com for more information as it becomes available.

Scott got a phone call Sunday morning that an explosion had occurred at Oneok where he works. One of the guys he works with was right next to the tank when it exploded. It singed his hair, he has several broken ribs and a punctured lung. It was pretty scary. Scott had just worked for the guy on Saturday and does the same thing he was doing when the explosion happened. It could have just as easily happened to him. Scott was supposed to have Monday-Wednesday off but it looks like he may be working. He went in today so we'll see what the next couple days brings. They plant is shut down but all the head people are here for investigation. Working with gas can be a dangerous job. We are praying for Scott's coworker and his family and ask that you do the same.

What Next?

Last night when I got home from work I decided to go to Iron Works to work out. I ran in the house and changed clothes and headed to the gym. I worked out and visited with some friends for a little bit and then headed home. The girls were starving! It was 8:00! Oops! I couldn't feed Cheryl fast enough. She ate an entire jar of baby food spaghetti, a jar of fruit some of the noodles from my goulash and a couple bites of my bread. Cheyenne had chicken nuggets. About 9:30 Cheryl was getting cranky so I thought she was ready to go to sleep. I started nursing her. All of a sudden she threw up, all over me, her, the couch, and the floor! I took her into the bathroom in case there was more. I stripped her and me and while I was doing that Cheyenne wanted to put her juice in the fridge. Tonight of all nights I gave her a cup with a straw rather than a sippy cup. She dropped it on the floor trying to put it in the fridge. I cleaned that up and put clean jammies on both the girls. Cheyenne has spilled the juice on herself and stepped in it. My shout bottle was out so I was refilling it to spray the clothes Cheryl threw up on (white jammies), and I over flowed the bottle. I finally got that all cleaned up and started the laundry. Cheyenne layed down on the couch in the basement and went to sleep. Cheryl was still playing. I think she ate too much too fast (my fault). After she got rid of it she felt better!

Thank God that's over. I just sat there and laughed about it as I put Cheryl to sleep!

I got up a little after 6 this morning. I usually get up a little before 6 so I was already a little late. I decided I was just going to wash the girls off this morning rather than giving them a shower. (We only have the basement shower in use right now. That is another blog in itself!)Scott got Cheyenne up and got her ready and I let Cheryl sleep. She finally woke up a little after 7. I usually try to leave by 7:30 so I was just going to get her dressed and head out the door. Forget that! I picked her up, out of our bed, and my hand was wet! She had a runny, poopy diaper that went all the way up her side and down to her toes! Needless to say it was on our bed too. I cleaned Cheryl up, gave her a bath in the sink, started the sheets and her clothes in the washer and finally got on the road at 7:57. Good thing I really don't have to be to work until 9! And I walked in the door to the HRC at 8:55!

I cleaned up a lot of messes in a short period of time and hope that I don't see much more of that anytime soon! Oh, the joys of motherhood! Just laugh about it!

Christmas Parade

I'm a little behind in posting this. November 22nd Lyons had the lighted Christmas parade and lighting of the bell and star. Santa also made his first visit to town. It was a little cold but we servived!

This was the winning float. It's kind of hard to see but it's Cal Maine which is a chicken farm and they have people dressed up as chickens pulling Santa's sleigh. Now everytime we see Santa, Cheyenne asks where the chickens are!
The First Bank Float

Cheyenne picking up candy out of the street. She didn't do this long. She stood in my mom's suburban and told Staci and I to "Go get that candy!"

Here is her telling us to go get it!
Cheryl wanted us to get the candy too!

The lighting of the bell and star.

The line to visit Santa in his house after the parade was extremely long so we opted to wait for another day and go home where it was warm and eat our candy!

Blowing Bubbles

Cheyenne loves to blow bubbles in the bath tub!
Look at all those bubbles!
