4th of July

Every year on the 4th of July, the LRC holds the Freedom Run. This year was the 29th annual 5K and 15K runs from Lyons to Sterling. We had a great turnout with 90 people pre-registering and 100 registering the day of the race. It was crazy, but fun! This year I decided to enter Cheyenne in the Cute Baby Contest held at Sterling Lake along with all the other festivities. This was the only time she'd be able to do it because it was walking to 36 months. I had to register her in the morning and the competition was at 7 pm. Scott got off work a little early and we headed over there. Cheyenne did good walking across the stage. She didn't place but we still think she's the cutest kid her age!

When that was over we had to wait around until it got dark for the fireworks to start. Although we had some fireworks behind us in someone's back yard. Cheyenne enjoyed watching those. But those didn't prepare her for the loud ones that went off later!

It was a very nice fireworks display that Sterling put on. I've never been to Sterling's before but it was better than any other ones I've been to.

Cheyenne didn't make it through the whole show. She was out. The loud ones didn't even wake her!

Last minute vacation

Friday Scott called me and said he was going to surprise us and reserve a room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City for Saturday night. He had 2 days off and wanted to get away. They had rooms available when he checked on Thursday but when he went back into the website on Friday they were all booked up. He had made arrangements with a coworker to pick up his jet ski in Overland Park so we decided to go anyway. When we got to KC we stopped just to see if they had any rooms at the Great Wolf Lodge and they did. It was quite expensive but we decided to do it anyway. We checked in and then went to meet Scott's brother at Legends mall. We went and ate at Famous Dave's and then the guys went to pick up the jet ski while us girls went to hang out in the hotel. The girls took a nap and I dozed off talking to Ashley. Remember, I've been awake since 4 am Friday morning! It took Scott and Dustin longer than expected to get the jet ski. When they got back we headed back to the Legends for some shopping and ice cream from Cold Stone. Now we were ready to swim! The girls loved it! It took Chey a little bit but she had fun! The slides were lots of fun!

Cheryl didn't make a sound! She just floated in her life jacket & kicked her feet in the water. As soon as I took her life jacket off, she fell asleep! I guess it wore her out!

We swam for a couple hours and then got some pizza from the snack bar and headed back to our room. We ate and then hit the sack.

We got up Sunday morning in time to go watch the story time in the lobby.

Then we took showers and went to IHOP for breakfast. When we got done with breakfast it was time for Cabela's to open. We looked around Cabela's and then headed for home.

It was a very fast trip to KC but an enjoyable one. We all needed to get away for a little break!

Relay For Life

Relay for Life went fairly well. There were a few things that were a little unorganized but turned out ok. The biggest thing was that we didn't have enough candles for the luminaries. We had to run around trying to find some. Luckily the funeral home and some we could use. We were still missing a few but they looked ok. I still don't know the total of money raised but should find out soon. Someone said they thought we had more this year than last year. Raising money is out main goal so if that's the case, I'm pleased.

Overall it went pretty well. It started raining bout 5 am so we cleaned up and left early. We didn't make it to the closing ceremony and breakfast or find out totals but at least we made it most of the night. I'm glad it's over! I don't think I will be on the committee next year but do plan on having a team and look forward to helping the American Cancer Society combat cancer.

Relay for Life

Today is the Rice County Relay for Life. This is my 2nd year to be involved and volunteered to be the co-chair and online chair. Little did I know that I would become the Chair. With it only being my 2nd year involved I've been a little clueless to what I need to be doing. There have been a lot of last minute phone calls and things trying to get everything ready to go. We lost our Survivor chair to cancer the beginning of this month. I think it's been a struggle for all of us to come together and get organized. Hopefully it all comes together tonight. It has been raining all night/morning so I'm hoping it clears off this afternoon. Although if it is raining tonight while we are all walking on the track it will mean more as those who fought cancer fought all day and night and weathered some bad times.

Father's Day

This year was Scott's 3rd Father's Day. Unfortunately he had to work. He played with the girls when he got home at 6 am though. He's got a big enough heart, and body, for both of them! He loves his girls! He's been working a lot of hours but always finds time to play with them, if even only for 30 minutes. I think it helps him through his long days.

She Did It!

Cheryl rolled over yesterday! Three times at work! And I got to see it! I didn't get to see Cheyenne roll over the first time so I was excited to see Cheryl. Although it brought tears to my eyes because the growing up has begun. It won't be long and she will be running! I will enjoy the next several months of still having a baby along with all the milestones she will go through.

Sweet Thunder

Yesterday I ventured to Russell with the girls to watch my cousin's softball games. My grandma and uncle were going to be there so I knew I would have a little help. I just hate asking. The girls were pretty good. Cheyenne just played in the dirt. Cheryl was a little fussy because she was hot but she finally went to sleep and I got to watch the game. My cousin and her husband coach the 10 and under Sweet Thunder out of Colby. Her daughter Kylee pitches. She did a very nice job. She pitched both games. The won the first one (I don't remember the score. I went to feed Cheryl because it was a blowout) and won the second one by one in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Finding Feet

Cheryl found her feet this week. She is content to lay on the floor and just play with them. I thought she was too chubby to get them to her mouth but she got them there yesterday!

Scott has been coming up and working out when he gets off work and then taking Cheyenne to daycare. Yesterday Cheyenne worked out with him.
