State Bound

Today Staci is headed to State Track. The 4x400 relay placed first at Regionals in Hays last Friday and will be running in prelims at state in Wichita today. She was so excited. She is getting to participate in state track as a sophomore. She only ran in the 4x400 twice and ran faster than some of the other girls so she was able to become part of the relay team. She also ran the 4x800 and 4x100 but they failed to qualify for state.

Storms

I went out to Mom and Dad's Tuesday night to help get their house ready for company for Brittany's graduation. Storms moved in shortly after I got there. We were in severe thunderstorm warnings. The clouds didn't look too good. Dad was watching them out the back door and there was some rotation. Here are some pictures of the clouds.

I ended up staying the night out there because I was too tired by the time the storms blew over to drive home. It stormed more through the night and was raining when I left at 4:00 in the morning. Thank God nothing to bad came out of this storm. It's that time of year again!

New Outfit

When we were in Wichita with Scott, we got a chance to run to Baby Depot Saturday night. Dustin and Ashley were looking strollers and other baby stuff and I needed to get Scott a few things. I also got to look at the little girls clothes. I got the girls each an outfit. Here is Cheryl in hers. I put it on her to see Scott on Sunday.

She just looks so cute in a hat!

I can't put bows in her hair yet and I don't like the headbands so I think I may do more hats!

Scary Weekend

Scott had a cold last week and went to the dr. on Wednesday. They prescribed him some medication. He took it Wednesday night and Thursday morning. He called me late Thursday morning and said he was light headed all day and thought maybe it was the medication. I called the dr. and got him something different. He came home early that night and went straight to bed. He got up around 7:00 and felt much better. He went to play poker and came home about 11:00 with a terrible headache. He didn't sleep much that night because every time he moved his head hurt. I made him a dr. appointment as soon as I could on Friday morning. At 9:45 we went to see Dr. Matt. He checked him over and then sent us over to the hospital for a CAT scan. Scott was in excruciating pain. He said he's never hurt that bad before.

At the hospital they started an IV and gave him some Morphine. This took the edge off for a few minutes. The CAT scan ruled out any tumors or anything serious. They also did a sinus scan to see if it was his sinus passages. Then they did a spinal tap. The spinal fluid had to be sent to Hutch so we didn't know those results right away. When Dr. Matt did the spinal tap he was able to check the pressure on Scott's brain. It was 550! It is usually in the 100 range! This is when he informed me that they were going to take him by ambulance to Wichita because they were concerned about bleeding on the brain. My heart stopped and I wasn't sure what to do. I called my mom crying and ask her to go with me to Wichita. My sisters had a track meet and softball game that day and it was my partents' anniversary. I felt terrible about asking but I didn't know who else to call and I didn't want to wait for Scott's mom to get there 4 hours later. I called Scott's mom and brother and they were on their way.

We got to Wesley Medical Center and he was in Surgical ICU. The first time I walked back there and passed all the other rooms with people hooked up to lots of machines and many of them not moving I got tears in my eyes. Then when I got to Scott's room and he was hooked up to machines and oxygyn with a mask on I couldn't hold them back. The nurse came in and told us the dr. would be here in about 5-10 minutes. He asked us lots of questions that's when he told us that they thought it was viral meningitis. They were still doing some tests to make sure and an infectious disease dr. would be in to see Scott also. We had to wear masks when we went in to see him because they didn't know if it was contagious or not. The infectious disease dr. came in on Saturday. I was sitting there with a mask on watching the NFL draft with Scott when he came in and said "You can take the mask off. He's not contagious". Thank God! I was worried about Scott but I was also worried about the girls. How would I know if they had it? Now, hopefully, I didn't have to worry about it. He checked Scott over and asked him some questions and said that there weren't any antibiotics for it. They could just give him pain medicine to control the pain.

Around 8:00 pm Scott was able to move out of ICU and into a regular room. We had gone to get something to eat because you can't be in the rooms during shift change from 7-8. When we were headed back Scott texted me and said what room he was in but that the visiting hours were over at 8:30. Since it was past 8:30 Dustin and I were only able to take some clothes and snacks up to Scott but couldn't stay. The next morning, Sunday, Scott called me and said they were going to let him go home by noon if he felt like it. If he stayed, all they would do is give him pain meds and he might as well take them at home and be more comfortable.

Cheyenne was already at home with my parents so Scott's grandparents offered to take us home. We got home around 3:00. Scott just relaxed the rest of the day. He was still pretty weak. He stayed home from work until Wednesday. After working all day Wednesday, he was exhausted but feels much better than he did over the weekend.

My cousin had viral meningitis a couple years ago and still doesn't have his full strength sometimes. I'm trying to make sure Scott takes care of himself to recover fully from this. He's pretty stubborn though. This was the scariest and worse thing I have ever been through and hope I never have to go through it again. The worst part was just not knowing for a day or so. Once we finally knew what it was it was a lot less stressful it seemed like Scott started feeling better.

Thank you to all of you who kept us in your prayers. God got us through it.

A Day at LRC

Everyday I have to bring Cheyenne to work with me and then take her to daycare when she gets up and around. Today she tried to get Cheryl ready to go also!

Cheyenne getting Cheryl's seat belt out from under her.

Cheyenne trying to buckle Cheryl's belt. She knows they go in there but hasn't gotten them fastened yet. As long as she doesn't pinch Cheryl we're ok!

Yvonne came by on her lunch break and was talking to Cheryl. She had her laughing so hard! Of course when I got the camera out it wasn't quite the same but it was still cute!

Extra Workout

Yesterday we had to run some errands up town so I decided to just go home and get the stroller and walk since it was so nice out. We went to Alltel, the post office, back home to change a poopy diaper and then to the grocery store. Cheyenne sits in the back of the double stroller and Cheryl in her carrier in the front. While in the grocery store Cheyenne pushed on the front seat that Cheryl was in (on) and the tray popped. I put it back together but it didn't stay. I fixed it about 5 times in 2 blocks and then decided I didn't want to take the chance of Cheryl falling so I took her off and carried her and pushed the stroller. It was quite the workout for 3 blocks! Cheryl is heavy in the infant carrier but even heavier when trying to push a double stroller with Cheyenne and groceries in it! I definately got the extra exercise yesterday!

Killing 2 Birds with One Stone

I used to get to work around 4:50 so that I could do cardio and tan. Since both the girls have been coming to work with me I usually can't tan and don't have time because we don't get here until closer to 5:00. I've been doing a little more cardio since Cheyenne can walk around in there if she is awake. I do the ROM (a 4-minute machine) and then ride the bike. The other day, I thought, I bet I can feed Cheryl while I ride the bike. That gets 2 things out of the way at once! She doesn't seem to mind either! No one else is in there and the doors are locked so I don't have to worry about covering up. It works pretty well!

Another Yankee Fan

I decided to take some pictures of Cheryl in the Yankee dress we had for Cheyenne. It's a good thing I did because it's about too small.

Yankees are #1!

Cheyenne wanted to be in a picture!

Staci's Track at Lyons

These are some pictures of Staci running track at Lyons. I meant to post them several weeks ago but didn't.

She is the anchor leg in the 4x800.

Racing for the finish!

I don't remember the places since I waited so long to post it! Staci ran the 4x800, 4x100 and 800. They placed in all of them I'm just not positive on the places.

I get much better shots on my new camera!

Wilson vs. Haviland

Yesterday the girls and I attended our first Wilson Dragon softball game of the season. Wilson lost the first one in 9 innings 7-5 and won the second one 12-2 in 5 innings.

Brittany plays 3rd base. Here she is catching a fly ball and making the out.

We rode with my mom and backed the suburban up and sat in the back to stay out of the wind. Cheyenne decided she needed to dump out the box of Teddy Grahams.

Brittany batting. She had a few good hits. I'm not sure this was one of them though. This one didn't go far!

Brittany on 3rd base and dad coaching.

Cheryl enjoyed the game too!

26 Years Old

Thursday was my 26th birthday. Other than not being able to take a shower before I went to work, it was a good day. My mom and Brittany watched the girls for a couple hours while Scott and I went to Hutch that evening. We went out to eat at Chili's and then got a few things at Walmart. We decided to get some ice cream before we headed home so stopped at Dairy Queen. We got home about 9 and the girls were asleep. After mom and Brittany left we hit the sack. I think next time we'll go out on the weekend when we don't have to get up so early.

Backed Up

Yesterday morning Scott called me and asked if I hadn't seen the water on the floor in the bathroom. I said no. Evidentally, the toilet overflowed. Scott got is cleaned up before he went to work. When I got home yesterday afternoon, I went downstairs to use that bathroom and there was water all over that bathroom floor. I just started crying. We've already replaced the floor in the downstairs bathroom once because the toilet leaked. I knew Scott would be mad if he had to do it again. I called my mom and Scott and tried to get ahold of a plumber. We think the sewer is backed up. I couldn't get any good plumbers that could come out yesterday. There were some others that I could try but other people haven't been very pleased with their work so I didn't even want to try. Walton's said they could be here in the morning. My mom came in yesterday afternoon to see if she could help. There wasn't much she could do except stay with the girls while I ran up town to the bathroom and help me relax and not be so uptight. I appreciated that! I picked Cheyenne up from daycare around 1:30 and planned on coming home and taking a nap with her. Since that didn't happen she was pretty cranky. And so was I! Scott had to work on putting new breaks on the car yesterday evening and he didn't get home until after 8:00. Jeremy and Adria were kind enough to let Scott shower at their house. I ran over there to go to the bathroom real quick and then Scott went over there to take a shower. To make it worse, Scott has come down with a cold too. He has a very sore throat and just feels miserable. He didn't sleep much last night. He is staying home this morning until the plumbers get there. Hopefully that will help him get some sleep. I hope this doesn't end up being too big of a job!

Just Some Random Pictures of the Girls

Just thought I'd share a couple recent pictures of the girls with you.

Here's one of Cheryl smiling. She is starting to laugh now too. She's so cute!

All dressed up! I went through the tubs of clothes I had from Cheyenne and found several outfits that Cheyenne didn't wear very much. It was like shopping in my own house! I was even still in my jammies!

Cheyenne in her new hat and sunglasses.

I wore my hat to soccer on Saturday so Cheyenne wanted to wear hers!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK! NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

The Kansas Jayhawks won their first national title in 20 years! How exciting! I fell asleep shortly before halftime and woke up just in time to see the last 3 minutes of regulation and then overtime. I think that was the best part of the game! I can't imagine what it would have been like to have been in Lawrence last night! KU even cancelled classes today for everyone to celebrate (or sleep in!)

If you missed the game check out these highlights.

It's Back

Friday the girls both came down with coughs again. UGGH! I still had a refill on Cheryl's breathing treatment meds so I filled that and started giving them to her again.Luckily I hadn't taken the machine back to the hospital yet. Cheyenne has a hard time sleeping at night because she keeps coughing. I try to get her propped up but she likes to lay flat on her bed. She has her 2 year check-up today so we'll see what Debbie says. I'm anxious to see how much Cheyenne has grown today. She hasn't had a check-up since she was 18 months old. I have started coughing too. I'm so ready for it to warm up and hopefully get rid of this crud.

Happy Birthday Cheyenne!

Today Cheyenne is 2! Time has gone by so fast and she has grown so much. She amazes me everyday with the things she does. She talks so much and says new words every day. We really have to be careful what we say now because she picks it up as soon as you say it. I said crap one day and she repeated it as soon as it left my lips. She can even count to 10 (with our help, we say one she says 2, back and forth all the way to 10)!

Happy Birthday to my little girl!

Cheyenne's First Program

Last night Cheyenne had her first program. The daycare does a Spring program for all the kids, even the infants. Cheyenne did very well.

Walking in with her class.

Singing

And marching

Here is a video of them singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. Sorry it's a little shaky. I couldn't help but laugh! She's so cute!
