Cheyenne's Last Day at Cornerstone

October 29th was Cheyenne's last day at Cornerstone Daycare. When she first started going after I had Cheryl it was a chore to take her there. We left her kicking and screaming and crying for about 2 weeks. After that she wanted to go! But she always still gave us a hug and kiss before we left. She made many friends there and loved her teachers. They do a great job with the kids! She learned lots from there. I hope we can continue working with her so she doesn't loose what she gained.

The kids wanting their picture taken. They are all saying "CHEESE!"

After the picture they would all run over and want to see it! Then they'd want another one taken! It was so cute!

Director

Monday I started my new job as Director/Program Specialist for Hoisington Recreation Commission. The last 3 days have gone well. I know most things that are going on and have started working on activities for the next flyer. I have met quite few people so far. The Activity Center was the voting site for Hoisington so I saw lots of people come in and out on Tuesday. The Activity Center is pretty big so I'm still learning where everything is at. So far my days have gone fairly quickly, although I miss my girls. They both go to daycare all day while I work. They are in daycare in Bushton. I drop them off around 8:15 am on my way to Hoisington. I get off at 5:30 pm and woudl pick them up around 6. Mom has volunteered to pick them up the last couple days so it wasn't so late for them. It will be nice when I can get them in a daycare in Hoisington. I enjoy my new job but miss being with my girls so much and getting off at 1 pm. It's nice to sleep a little later though. I look forward to the duties of a director and hope that it all goes well. When our house sells we'll get moved to Hoisington so I won't be away from my girls as much and won't be spending an hour and a half on the road everyday.

The HRC board of commissioners sent me flowers on my first day.

Visiting Grandpa

Thursday morning, I loaded the girls in the Tahoe about 5 am and headed to Bushton to pick Scott up and then we headed to Goodland. We got to spend all of Thursday and some of Friday with him. Friday night we went Trick-or-Treating with my cousins in Colby (I'll do another post about that). We got up around 6:30 this morning and headed for home. We stopped in Holyrood for the Fireman's pig roast. It was yummy. It was a quick trip but it was enjoyable to just get a away for a couple days.
Cheyenne playing with Papa Fritz before bed.

Grandpa Fritz has this drawing of the boys when they were little on his wall. Scott is the one on the right. I knew she looked like him but this picture shows it even more!

Cheryl telling Grandpa bye Saturday morning.

Sub-State Volleyball

Yesterday QH played in sub-state volleyball in Montezuma. They played Montezuma in the first round. It went 3 matches but we won. It was on to the finals agains Pratt Skyline. This was the team we beat in the finals of sub-state last year to make it to state. We knew they were going to be out for revenge.

Cheryl ready for the games to start!

Cheyenne and Mema have their game faces on!

Starting lineup. Staci being announced.

Staci hitting.

Staci blocking. I think she may have jumped a little early.

This one's better!

Staci serving.

Staci blocking again.

Serving. ACE!

Staci got a hit over the tall blockers from Pratt.

QH after accepting their sub-state runner-up plaque. Many tears were shed. They headed straight to the locker room. We didn't get a team picture.

Cheyenne was the first to run over and give Staci a hug when she came out.

Staci is a junior so they will have one more year to try and make it to state. They are loosing 2 good players so they'll have to work hard. This season is over but I look forward to next year!

Gunner James

Gunner James Goalden graced us with his presence on October 26th! Cheyenne and Cheryl finally have a cousin and Scott and I are an uncle and aunt! Everyone is doing well. We can't wait to meet him! He weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz and 19.5 inches long.

A couple weeks ago, Scott got this text on his phone! Gunner in his Halloween costume!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to the Parent's as Teachers Pumpkin Patch. Cheryl slept most of the time and Cheyenne got to walk the trails and get goodies to make Trail Mix.

I don't remember what Kenan was putting in the bags, M&M's maybe.

Road to the Championship

Yesterday was regional volleyball in St. John. Quivira Heights played Chase the first match and won pretty easily. Then they met Claflin in the semi-finals. They had to beat Claflin to make it to sub-state. QH won the first game. Claflin came back and won the second one 25-23 to send it into 3 games. QH won the third game to advance to sub-state and meet St. John in the Regional finals. Quivira Heights had lost to St. John 3 times previously. This was their 3rd time meeting in a week! Evidently the 3 games with Claflin wore the t-birds out because they kind of lost steam and lost to them for the 4th time thus being regional runners up. Advancing to sub-state, they will play at Montezuma-South Gray on Saturday. We will have to win all matches at sub-state to advance to state. As state champions last year they hope to make it there again!

QH Volleyball

Last Tuesday we went to watch Staci play volleyball at QH. They played Kinsley and St. John. I believe St. John had beaten them once already so they were after revenge. They took care of Kinsley pretty easily but couldn't get past St. John. They will probably meet St. John again in the League tournament this weekend and at Regionals next Tuesday. That's when it realy counts.

Cheyenne getting ready to leave for the game.

All dressed in Thunderbird voleyball attire!

Staci being introduced for the St. John game.

The Starters!

Staci Serving!

The best player for St. John is Beth Cornwell. She is 6' tall and a very good hitter. Cheyenne and I were walking back from the bathroom and Cheyenne was a couple steps infront of me when Beth hit the ball right towards Cheyenne. It hit the floor first and then knocked Cheyenne over. She will tell you know that the ball hit her face. I don't think it hurt her to bad it just really scared her! She cried but she was tough. Scott had a dream that night that Cheyenne stood up and said "Who did it?" We hope that she is the one hitting like that one of these days.

Stylin 9 Month Old

Wednesday Cheryl turned 9 months old. Where has the time gone? sniff sniff Yesterday she had her 9 month check up. She weighed 25 lbs. 9 oz and was 31 inches long. Everything was good. Although I forgot to ask Debbie what to do since she wakes up twice at night, midnight and 3 am. I asked a couple of the ladies in aerobics this morning and they said just lay her in her bed and let her cry but sooth her or give her water instead of nursing. She won't take a pacifier so I can't do that when she wakes up. Any other suggestions?

Cheryl is stylin in her skirt, tights and boots!

Playing in the Rain

It rained a couple days last week and several this week. Last week it was a nice rain and it was still warm outside so I had the front door open. I was on the phone and turned around to see Cheyenne outside playing in the rain.

She is soaked already!

Havin' Fun!

Splashing in the puddles.

Getting wet from the water falling off the roof!

She was soaking wet but had a good time. She loves the water no matter where it comes from!

It's Quiet

Last Tuesday evening I was doing dishes and noticed that Cheyenne was quiet. I went to look for her and this is what I found.

Yep! She's getting into my make-up!

That's blush on her eyes!

I had to take pictures before gettign on to her and telling her that she can't play in my make-up. Then we had fun washing it off!

A Day at the Zoo

Today we took the girls to Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure outside of Salina. Cheyenne enjoyed seeing all the animals. Cheryl did too but fell asleep not too long into it.
The tiger.

As one girl walking next to us put it, "It's the monkey's off of Lion King with the funny butts!"

Cheryl hanging out in the stroller while Cheyenne gets closer to the animals.

Bright green frongs.

Cheyenne once again love the giraffes. They came over to the fence so we could get a good look. Even though she liked the giraffes she kept asking for dinosaurs. Not any at this zoo! I guess we need to take her to a dinosaur museum. I don't think she understands that they are extinct.

My attempt at getting a family picture when my batteries were about to die. It's a good picture of Scott and I! We had a good time with the girls at the zoo and were glad it was such a beautiful day!
