First Fire

This morning when we woke up our house was freezing. We hadn't turned on our heater yet. Scott decided to start a fire in the fireplace. Cheyenne was pretty intrigued by it.

The warm fire was already putting Scott to sleep.

State Bound

Quivira Heights played in the Southwest Sub-State at Pratt-Skyline yesterday. In the first round of the bracket we played Rolla and won 25-14, 25-8. Then it was on to the finals against Pratt-Skyline. We defeated them 25-23, 22-25, 26-24. In the third game of the match we were down 17-24. We came back and scored 9 straight points to win sub-state and qualify for the state tournament next weekend in Hays. Coming back and winning was awesome!
UNBELIEVABLE!

Sub-State Champions!

#1 Fans!

We stayed and watched the first match of the other sub-state at Pratt with Claflin and Greensburg. Claflin came out on top in that match. I have a friend that coaches Claflin and she texted me last night that they also won their sub-state and will be playing at state. So we'll see Claflin again. Looking online we noticed that St. John (who our regular season losses were to) also won their 2A sub-state. It shows a lot for how difficult our league is when these three team, QH, Claflin and St. John all make it to state! That's actually pretty awesome!

A Day Full of Pictures

Yesterday was a day I needed to keep my camera close. It seemed like everytime I turned around Cheyenne was doing or did something cute or funny that needed to be captured on camera. So here is her eventful day in pictures.

She got her shirt off far enough that she got stuck! She was walking around the house like this and then got mad about it!

Since she wanted her clothes off, I took them off. Then she decided to write on herself!

Now we had to take a bath and get the ink off. After she was dressed I let her sit on the sink while I finished getting ready. While I was brushing my teeth she used Scott's toothbrush and got water all over herself. I actually got her hair all up in pigtails today! It made her look so much older!

We had a home visit from Shannon with Parents as Teachers. This was Cheyenne, Shannon and I having a picnic. Cheyenne was a little frustrated that the food wasn't real!

Once we got to work, things kind of slowed down. But it was a pretty eventful morning!

Saturday QH played in the Central Prairie League tournament in Kinsley. They started pool play at 9:00 am and finished first in their pool about 2:45 pm. The finals were being played in Offerle so we drove the 7 miles there just to find out they were way behind in this gym and we would have to sit for 3 1/2 games. So, four hours later they finally played the semi-final game against Macksville and won and then played right after that against St. John for the Championship. St. John had beaten them 2 other times during the season. We played a pretty good game but just couldn't come out on top so ended up with second place in the league.

10 Years Ago Today - 10/11/97

Ten years ago I was 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. It was volleyball season and the JV volleyball tournament was in Chase. I was on varsity so I didn't play in the JV tournament but went to support the team. Several of the varsity players and high school boys were there to support the JV team. Since I lived so close to Chase, a bunch of us went to my house between games. After the tournament I went to Holyrood with some friends that I was going to stay the night with. We hung out at Arlen's (the Lounge that everyone hung out at in 1997!) that night. Scott Hayes and I had been talking in school and writing notes to each other for a couple weeks. This night at Arlen's, before it was time for me to leave he asked me to go "out" with him. I of course said yes and we had our first kiss. Scott and I dated all through high school and college and finally got married in 2004. And here we are today. I never would have thought that on that night in October I was saying yes to the man I was going to marry. It's fun to reminisce about the last 10 years. In fact, it's crazy to think that it has been 10 years! A lot of things have happened. We've changed from the high school sweethearts we were in October of 1997 to the husband and wife we are today in October of 2007. It's been a wonderful 10 years!

(if I can get a picture scanned from when we first started dating I will post it here later)

A Day in the Park

Cheyenne and I took a walk to the park on Sunday evening.

There wasn't much she could play on in this part of the park. She wanted to climb on it though.

She liked the slide!

Riding the pig!

We found another slide to play on.

She didn't want to leave the park. She liked going down this slide!

Jabberbox

Cheyenne has really been talking a lot more lately. Most of it is just jibber-jabber but she tells you a whole story! I took a video of her during lunch yesterday. She did several things during that time that she has started doing lately, talking, giving kisses, saying no, and telling us she has a stinky diaper. She has started saying no when she doesn't want to do something but it's too cute when she says it. The way she sticks out her lips and says it is just too darn cute. I'm sure it won't be cute for long though!

Flatlanders Festival

This past weekend we went to the Flatlanders Festival in Goodland. Scott was going to ride his motorcycle up there and put it in the show but after being sick all week he decided to just load it in the back of the truck and take it up there. We walked around all day and looked at the cars and motorcycles in the show. There weren't as many cars as there has been in the past. Cheyenne and I got a little sun burned and wind burned. Cheyenne's was only on one side of her face because she fell asleep in the umbrella stroller and was laying to one side. After lunch Scott's mom took Cheyenne back to his grandpa's and Scott and I stayed in town for awhile.

Scott's bike with the other bike's in his class.

More of the bike's in his class. We didn't stick around long enough that night to find out who won.

That afternoon they had bike games. The games consisted of a driver and passenger on the back and putting a tennis ball down a PVC pipe and catching it on the other end, throwing rings on cones, putting tennis balls on cones, a slow race and throwing up a water balloon over a wire up in the air and catching it on the other side. The passenger did all of the things while the driver drove. Except for the slow race and that was only with one person. We did the tennis ball in the PVC pipe and the water balloon. You couldn't put your feet on the ground. You just had to balance your bike. We didn't do very well at the tennis ball one. Scott's bike is too torquey (if that's a word). I caught the water balloon but I didn't throw it up high enough to get it over the wire. It was fun though. Then a storm was moving in so we put the bike in a friend's garage and headed out to the farm.

This was the rings on the cones game.

Scott watching other people do the games.

Here is a picture of Cheyenne's sunburn/windburn. (if you can tell, it's on her right side)

Check-Ups

Cheyenne had her 18 month check up yesterday. Everything was good. She grew 2 inches and gained 3 pounds. She was 35 3/4 inches long and 29 pounds. She is almost 3 foot tall! She is still above the charts for her height. Our Dr., Debbie, noticed that she just created her own line that parallels the growth chart just above it.

I also had my monthly check up yesterday and everything was good. The baby's heartbeat was 150. That's the same as it was last month. I was 24 weeks yesterday so we're over halfway there. The next few months will probably go by fast!
